Renovated Centro Office provides new public info center

New Public Info Center Downtown

With the recent expansion of the Centro San Antonio Amigos headquarters, downtown San Antonio now has a new public information center on Travis Street, in between St. Mary’s and Navarro. Centro San Antonio, a non-profit organization that manages the Amigo Ambassador, Maintenance, and Landscaping programs, doubled the size of their office space this summer on 219 E. Travis Street, giving the organization much needed additional operating space and a convenient store front exposure on Travis Street.

The office has always served as the central control center for dispensing assistance, directions, and verification to Amigos on duty around downtown, allowing Amigos on foot to radio the front desk to verify store locations, report issues, or ask questions. However, with the new addition of the store front space, the office is now suitable to offer direct assistance to walk-ins as a public information center. Now, the front desk provides friendly assistance M-F 8am-9pm and on the weekends 9am-9pm. Building and window signs have been added to help identify the space, including a round “i” window decal denoting the international symbol for information. Centro’s President, Ben Brewer, stated, “The new office will not only provide additional locker, meeting, and break space for the 64 Amigos, but it also has maps, coupon books, and other resources for exploring downtown.”
