The downtown public
improvement district will now be serviced by Block by Block, with coverage on
the west side expanding
Today, Centro San
Antonio, the public improvement district for downtown San Antonio, announced a
new partnership with Block by Block, a leading third party provider of downtown
public improvement district services.
Selected from a
competitive proposal process, Block by Block will provide staffing, logistics,
supervision, and ongoing management for the public service representative and
sidewalk maintenance programs, better known as the Maintenance Amigo and
Ambassador Amigo programs of Centro San Antonio. The partnership effectively
combines what were formally separate contracts for Maintenance Amigos and Ambassador
Amigos, and creates an integrated hospitality and cleaning program that
streamlines administration, communications, training and costs.
Centro President Ben
Brewer remarked, “Block by Block’s outstanding reputation precedes them from
the 34 other urban districts they manage across the country. They bring a host
of best practices for us to benefit from as we continue to make downtown a
better place to live, work, eat and be entertained.”
Also beginning today, Centro
has expanded its service area to include a west side extension of the Public
Improvement District (PID) boundaries, which now includes the area between
North Flores and I-35 from Dolorosa Street north to the boundary of W. Houston,
Santa Rosa and W. Travis.
In addition to the
services that will be provided by Block by Block, Centro San Antonio’s landscaping
and Streetscaping program will continue to be serviced by ISS Grounds Control.
About Centro
Centro San Antonio helps
accommodate downtown's growing residential population, enhance its office and
retail market, and position downtown as a premier convention and visitor
