The roots of the Carver Community Cultural Center lie deep within San Antonio's African-American community. The complex originated as the Colored Library Association's Auditorium, the African-American community's hub of social, cultural and educational life during segregation. Since that era, the facility has hosted nationally acclaimed performers from Ella Fitzgerald to the highly acclaimed "Stomped".
