Bond propositions pass easily

San Antonio residents Saturday overwhelmingly approved all five
propositions of the $596 million bond program, sending a vote of
confidence to City Hall in an era when taxpayers are generally wary of
major spending initiatives.

Recall: Decade of Downtown, Year One

To be sure, downtown needs some love. The most recent U.S. Census data
shows residents fled the city center in droves over the past decade.
Housing's scarce, storefronts sit empty, and a glut of downtown office
space sits dejectedly on the market. To turn the urban core around,
Mayor Julián Castro made the "Decade of Downtown" a cornerstone of the
SA 2020 plan gleaned from months of community input.

Next public workshop announced for October 26

Thank you for your interest in helping to develop the Downtown Strategic
Framework Plan. This plan will help make the center city the
commercial and residential core envisioned in SA2020 and other planning
efforts. The workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, October 26th from 6-8
pm at the Scottish Rite Banquet Center. While registration is not
required, it is encouraged. Please register by filling out the
appropriate information - your name tag will be printed according to the
