2011 Two Step: San Antonio Rodeo Cattle Drive and Houston Street Stroll
Join us as we celebrate our
proud Texas heritage and help kick off the San Antonio Stock Show and
Rodeo at the "Houston Street Two-Step" on January 29, 2011 from 11 a.m. to 2
p.m
Kick off the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo and come watch history come alive at the Houston Street Two Step: Cattle Drive and Houston Street Stroll as cowboys guide an impressive herd of Texas Longhorns down Houston Street, where only a trail existed 150 years ago. The herd will be followed by other Western-themed entertainers, wagons, and riders in a colorful procession along Houston Street from the Santa Rosa Hospital all the way to the Alamo.
After the “first” step of the Two Step, the cattle drive, is over, the festivities continue with the “second step” of the Houston Street Stroll. Grab a passport from Amigos and Rodeo volunteers and start a fun-filled adventure exploring businesses, restaurants, and museums as they open their doors with special offers and discounts. Upon visiting the participating businesses, participants will receive a stamp, and with enough stamps, they can turn in an entry form for free grounds tickets to the Rodeo and fabulous door prizes.
Additionally, free fun and games for kids of all ages will be offered in the Hospitality Parking Lot on the corner of Houston and Jefferson, including authentic cowboys cooking from their chuck wagon over an open fire, barrel racing, live music, and more.
The Cattle Drive begins at approximately 11AM. The Houston Street Stroll will begin after the Cattle Drive ends and the streets reopen, going until 2pm. Door prizes will be drawn at 1:45 in the Hospitality Parking Lot.
