Downtown Alliance First Annual Young Professional Holiday Happy Hour Mixer

Wristbands will be provided at the door, granting special happy hour prices ALL NIGHT! $5 select cocktails and $4 select draft beers. Movies by Moonlight

Summer 2011

Lights, camera, action! Movies by Moonlight is back for a third year. The big screen will once again light up downtown’s HemisFair Park as the City’s Downtown Operations Department kicks off the popular, free outdoor cinema series on Thursday, June 2.

Downtown San Antonio Placemaking Workshop with PPS

Placemaking is a multi-faceted approach to the planning, design and management of public spaces. Simply put, it is a short-term way of creating places downtown that are inviting and enjoyable. The Center City Development Office has contracted with Project for Public Spaces to provide educational and technical assistance focused on Placemaking. Phil Myrick with PPS will be available to describe this bold approach and share the success of Placemaking in other cities around the world.

Next Project for Public Spaces Downtown Meeting

The next Project for Public Spaces (PPS) meeting is August 17th from 5:30 to 7 pm at the Central Library. The purpose of this work session is to introduce Placemaking practices and techniques, share ideas from the Placemap, identify key projects and sites that offer the biggest opportunities to transform downtown in the short-term, identify barriers and opportunities, and build an action plan for the next steps. Urban Renaissance Luncheon: Placemaking in the Center City- Making It Happen

Phil Myrick with Project for Public Spaces will reflect on the results of San Antonio's PlaceMap exercise, and some real projects that should be undertaken right away. If you come, we will build it!
