Join us on March 30, 2012 for Downtown's BEST Awards- Recognizing the people, organizations, and places that have made significant contributions to Downtown San Antonio, creating a better place to live, work, shop, play, and be entertained. The deadline to nominate was Friday, February 24th by 5pm. Winners will be announced at the luncheon on March 30th at the Grand Hyatt. The luncheon check-in will begin at 11:30am and the luncheon was last until approx. 1:30pm.

San Antonio is well-known as Military City, USA, and Operation Homefront seeks to further honor the brave men and women of our armed services, as well as those who have served in conflicts throughout the history of our nation, with an evening of gratitude at the Salute to our Heroes concert at UTSA's Institute of Texan Cultures in HemisFair Park, Downtown San Antonio. In conjunction with the Paseo del Rio Association, the Salute to our Heroes Military recognition concert will follow the Here's to our Heroes Military River Parade in Downtown San Antonio on Armed Forces Day, May 19, 2012. This concert is presented by Operation Homefront free of charge to military personnel, their families, and the Patriotic Americans who support them.

The Texas Folklife Festival was modeled after the Smithsonian’s Folklife Festival, which was held in Washington, D.C. in 1968. On behalf of the Institute of Texan Cultures (which was built as part of the Texan Pavilion for the 1968 World’s Fair), O.T.
