The University Health System to Host a Public Forum on Major Expansion to University Health Center - Downtown
On February 22, 2010, the Westside Development Corporation and the
University Health System will host a public presentation of the plans to
significantly expand the UHS-Downtown campus, formerly known as The Robert B.
Green Hospital, built in 1915. The project is called the Target 2012: Capital
Improvement Program. The combined investment in the expansion of the Downtown
campus and the University Hospital in the Medical Center is $899.4 million.
This investment is larger than the construction of the Alamodome, SBC Center
(now AT&T), and Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center combined. The project
will also revitalize the Westside of San Antonio, providing greater access to
the latest outpatient diagnostic and treatment options in a convenient
location.
