The following is a press release from the City of San Antonio:
“Houston
Street Two- Step” to kick off annual Rodeo events
As San Antonio gears up for
the annual Stock Show and Rodeo, the City invites you to mosey downtown for the
“Houston Street Two-Step” this Saturday, January 30 from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00
p.m. This free event is open to the public.
The “Houston
Street Two-Step” will take place on Houston
Street from Christus
Santa Rosa Hospital
to the Alamo.
The festivities will kick off at 11:00 a.m. with cowboys on horseback
guiding an impressive herd of Texas Longhorns down Houston Street. The Cattle Drive will start at IH-35 and Houston Street and travel
east to the Alamo.
Following
the Cattle Drive,
participants can take part in the first-ever “Houston Street Stroll.” Participants will have the opportunity to
pick up a “passport” to stroll along Houston
Street partaking in special discounts and offers
from local merchants and restaurants. Upon visiting a participating
establishment, strollers will receive a stamp on their passport. Once strollers
fill their passports, they will be eligible for door prize drawings at the end
of the event. The first 100 participants
to turn in their completed passports will receive free ground tickets to the
2010 San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo.
In
addition to the Stroll, there will be western-themed activities such as chuck
wagon cooking, barrel racing, musical entertainment and additional activities
for all ages.
