First-Ever Tree Lighting On Houston Street
“The lighting of the tree is the kick-off to my favorite time of the year and I want everyone to share in the magic with me.”
--Chef Mark Bohanan

Houston Street Holiday Lighting: Tuesday, December 7 at 5:30 p.m.
in the Bohanan’s courtyard

A 20 foot Noble Fir direct from Elgin, TX will take center stage when Chef Mark Bohanan throws the switch and brings the holiday tree to life at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 7 in the Bohanan’s courtyard The public is invited to attend this festive kick-off to the season, which will include complimentary cider and cookies, and enjoy the sparkle that is the Holidays on Houston St.

No ordinary tree, this magnificent holiday centerpiece is one of three trees hand cut and selected for Texas Governor Rick Perry. It was shipped directly from the Elgin Tree Farm to Bohanan’s, where it will be brought to life with more than 5,000 sparkling white lights, sparkling ornaments, and yards of “fiesta beads” garland.

Bohanan’s holiday tree features colorful San Antonio and Mexican icons. It is bedecked with jewel-toned velvet sombreros, bright strings of beads to evoke Fiesta and an array of sequined ornaments that add just the right amount of holiday sparkle.

The elegantly decorated tree provides the perfect backdrop for enjoying the holidays with family and friends at Bohanan’s, as you sip a Jack’s Apple or another of the specialty holiday cocktails featured at the Bar at Bohanan’s.

It is all part of the Holidays on Houston Street, where more than 45,000 lights illuminate this historic part of downtown San Antonio, creating holiday magic at it’s best.

Kids (and kids at heart), are invited to participate in even more festive fun, as as Bohanan’s teams up with the San Antonio Children’s Museum, H-E-B, and Downtown Alliance for activities on Houston Street on Thursday, December 16 from 5-7 p.m. Holiday cookies, hot chocolate and apple cider, will be available for the children in the Courtyard and Bohanan’s, while mom and dad enjoy seasonal "adult" beverages from the Bar at Bohanan's.
