Change for Change: City, DTA, and other downtown partners roll out re-purposed parking meters to collect change for Haven for Hope
This week, the City of San Antonio, Downtown Alliance, Centro San Antonio and other key downtown partners introduced over twenty re-purposed parking meters back to the streets of downtown, this time to collect space change to make a change in helping the homeless through Haven for Hope. The meters bear the logo, mission statement, website, and colors of non-profit Haven for Hope, a multi-service facility near downtown focused on transforming the lives of homeless men, women and children in the San Antonio/Bexar County area by addressing the root causes of homelessness.
The meters are intended to deter panhandling by giving visitors and locals a safe and legitimate alternative to donating their space change to help homelessness.
